First off, what is Nearpod? ๐
Nearpod helps educators make any lesson interactive, whether in the classroom or virtual. The concept is simple. A teacher can create interactive presentations that can contain Quiz’s, Polls, Videos, Collaborate Boards, and more. You can access thousands of pre-built K-12 standards-aligned lessons or upload your existing lessons and make them interactive.
Why is Nearpod good for students?
Using Nearpod lessons with your class provides the opportunity to give instant and immediate feedback to you students. You as the teacher are given an immediate view at their answers and can use that data to check in with the students that may need that extra help, while the rest of the class continues in the lesson.
What can you do with Nearpod? ๐ค
1. Simple presentation delivery
You can use Nearpod as a substitute for other presentation tools. Instead of running a Powerpoint or Google Slides, you can use Nearpod and make the lesson more interactive
2. Open-ended tasks
Nearpod allows for creative flexibility. The ‘Open-Ended Questions’ feature allows the teacher to pose a question or set up a scenario for the students to respond to. With this tool, you can facilitate creative writing tasks. As a result, the advantage of using something like Nearpod for this kind of activity is that the ‘Open-Ended’ answers are then automatically logged in the reports.
3. Setting homework
All of the above examples revolve around the idea of using Nearpod in a Live session, but students can also engage on their own time. You can provide a Student-Paced code and they can access the Nearpod lesson at home, or anywhere with an internet connection.
How to create a lesson with Nearpod? ๐ฌ๐
How do my students access Nearpod?
With Nearpod, students do not need accounts to access! When you start a lesson, you'll launch a five-letter code. Share this code with students, or share the lesson through your LMS (like Canvas or Schoology), Google Classroom, or Microsoft Teams (here’s how). We’ve put together some resources to teach students and their families how to access Nearpod
